An autopsy Friday confirmed the human remains found in Kansas as a missing Omaha woman, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.On Wednesday, authorities found the body, identified as Cari Allen, in a barn in Topeka. The scene was about six miles away from Aldrick Scott’s home.The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said Allen’s death has been ruled as a homicide. “The homicide is an open investigation so the cause of death is not being released at this time,” the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine couldn’t reveal much as the investigation in this case is ongoing, but he said new charges could be brought to Scott as soon as the end of next week.”We have to make a determination of where does this fall within levels of crimes that have been committed here and we’ll have to look at that information and make that determination,” Kleine told KETV NewsWatch 7.Kleine said his office will review the evidence from the autopsy report and “other follow up.” Kansas authorities found the body in Topeka, where Scott, who is Allen’s ex-boyfriend, lived until he went to Central America after Allen, 43, vanished in November.Scott, 47, is charged with felony kidnapping and accessory to a felony in connection with Cari Allen’s disappearance. Prosecutors said during Scott’s first court appearance earlier in December that when deputies entered Allen’s home on the night she disappeared, they found what looked like bullet holes in the bedroom door and walls.Prosecutors did not say how long those had been there, but investigators found a handgun, as well as a crowbar and a sledgehammer, in Scott’s vehicle.Prosecutors said deputies contacted Scott, who they say lied about being in Topeka, Kansas, all weekend when Allen disappeared.According to prosecutors, Allen was at the Good Life bar, located near 180th and Pacific, on Nov. 19 before returning to her home.They said cellphone tower data from Scott’s phone shows that he was in Omaha at the Good Life and traveling toward Allen’s home the night she disappeared.Prosecutors said surveillance camera footage showed Scott’s SUV driving into the Good Life parking lot and at the victim’s home, as well as footage of a person matching Scott’s description walking toward Allen’s home. Scott’s kidnapping charge brings a potential life sentence. His bond has been set at $10 million.
