Jamie Lee Curtis claims the ‘Nepo Baby’ label is used only to diminish, denigrate and hurt
Jamie Lee Curtis has always been outspoken and with the new trend of “Nepo Baby” which calls out those who have a privileged position to start their career due to having famous parents, Curtis had some things to say including that she was an ‘OG Nepo Baby’.
An OG Nepo Baby
Jamie Lee Curtis used Instagram to let her feelings out as the New York Magazine published an article about those in the entertainment business and other close spheres such as fashion and design, who began their career with a head start thanks to their parents paving the way for their success, and she did not like how it was addressed as she is the daughter actors Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh.
Jamie Lee Curtis started working since she was 19 years old
Curtis started her post by writing that she has been working as an actress since she was 19 years old, “I have been a professional actress since I was 19 years old so that makes me an OG Nepo Baby, I’ve never understood, nor will I, what qualities got me hired that day.
There is not a day that goes by that Jamie Lee is not reminded of her parent’s acting career
She claims that ever since she started and until today she is always being reminded that she is the star of famous people “since my first two lines on Quincy as a contract player at Universal Studios to this last spectacular creative year some 44 years later, there’s not a day in my professional life that goes by without my being reminded that I am the daughter of movie stars“
The Halloween star claims that the term is only used to belittle and hurt people “The current conversation about nepo babies is just designed to try to diminish and denigrate and hurt.”
“I am not alone,” she continued “There are many of us. Dedicated to our craft. Proud of our lineage. Strong in our belief in our right to exist.”
